Montgomery County Service Park Demolition
O’C&L was requested by the general contractor for the Montgomery County Service Park, located on Crabbs Branch Road in Derwood, Montgomery County, MD, to prepare permit plans, coordinate demolition permits, and perform construction stakeout and offset services for the mass grading, erosion and sediment control, and overall demolition operations. The development included the demolition of four buildings owned by Montgomery County and the subsequent grading required to drain and eventually stabilize the site.
O’C&L coordinated with the general contractor; Montgomery County officials; the demolition contractor; the developer; the developer’s engineer; and other project stakeholders. O’C&L designed grading plans and erosion and sediment control devices to trap and treat runoff prior to release to the existing storm drain system. The phased aspect of the project required O’C&L to set existing and proposed conditions for each of the four project phases. The Design-Build aspect of the project required constant site management and modification to adjust to field conditions and/or stakeholder requests. During construction, O’C&L performed stakeout and offset services for the general contractor to allow for the installation of sediment control devices. O’C&L performed both grading stakeouts and grade checks to confirm compliance with design plans. OC&L staff participated in regular design meetings to ensure project progress.
