Weehawken Station/Bergenline Avenue Rail Station
The Weehawken Station/Bergenline Avenue Rail Station, Design Unit portion of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Transit (HBLRT) System, involved development of 20.5 miles of new light rail service. This development included stations; park-and-ride facilities; bridges; viaducts; retaining walls; overhead catenary power systems; operating systems; and equipment maintenance facilities.
The overall project extends from the south at 5th Street in Bayonne, New Jersey to the North Bergen Park & Ride, and is divided into several design units. Except for short approach sections at the downstation and upstation ends, the project route is situated almost entirely within the tunnel. Between the Weehawken and North Bergen Portals, the tunnel passes beneath the City of Union City, New Jersey, roughly paralleling 48th and 49th Streets. A new underground station is located at Bergenline Avenue, with a new shaft and ground level station headhouse facilities.
O’C&L has prepared an extensive schedule analysis in support of a claim for approximately $150 million.
